It seems to be that time of the year again when couples are making wedding plans and arrangements for the celebration of their love and commitment. A few of my friends are planning their weddings this spring and summer and I’ve been receiving their questions and requests for wedding dinner table decorations. The excitement is in the air :)
I am always happy to help and offer my advise and design ideas for their weddings. Since I am a fan of rustic country interior and down-to-earth design, I usually suggest going for something that just feels right and comfortable. I’ve seen too many people having breakdowns on their wedding day because the flower arrangement is one shade darker than the table cloth, or a similar wedding day emergency.
I believe that the less you worry about small things and the more you pay attention to the ways in which everything comes together beautifully if you allow that, the more likely you are to have a relaxed and enjoyable celebration. Enter the good times!
When it comes to decorating the wedding dinner table, some things I often suggest are the following.
Natural linen table cloth and napkins are your best friends. Always reliable, durable and goes with mostly everything.
Linen fabric is very cosy and helps create a rustic, intimate and homely environment. Pair natural linen with wooden spoons and natural clay bowls.
Play With Colours
Complement the colours of your food with colourful linen napkins.
If you know what you will be serving on the dinner table for the wedding, you can create a funky table décor by integrating food colour palette into the arrangement and matching it with the colours of the napkins.
You can get creative and match the seasoning and toppings of your dishes with the napkins, for example sprinkle some pomegranate seeds on your salad and serve it with red linen napkins.
Colourful napkins themselves can become exciting table decorations - just add some cinnamon sticks and sprinkle rose petals, tiny chilli peppers or shaved almonds all around them.
White Linen for Dessert Table
Even if you’re going for a rustic relaxed atmosphere, you can add tasteful sophistication to your wedding table. Arrange your dessert table with white table linens.
Whether you’re serving fruit cake, cupcakes or tarts, white linen will make your table more festive. White is the colour that complements any other colours and brings them out even more. White napkins will definitely make your colourful dessert pop.
I’ve heard it many times from my friends and family – some of the best wedding gifts are linen napkins and tablecloths. It’s something you can always use and even inherit from generation to generation, which I think is a lovely tradition. I’ve given many table linens as gifts and I’ve created custom designs for my friends’ weddings. It makes me happy knowing that something I’ve created helped someone enjoy their special day.
Each natural linen napkin carries my best wishes to your table. In a way, we are celebrating together :)
